Student Training in Engineering Program (STEP) Intern, 2025

Google is invested in increasing the number of future computer scientists and software developers, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in the field. The Student Training in Engineering Program (STEP) is a 12-week internship that offers students the opportunity to work on a software project alongside another STEP intern, with the support of full-time Googlers and a mentor. Interns will also attend trainings to enhance their technical and professional skills.

The program aims to bridge the gap between academic study and a professional internship for aspiring computer scientists. Interns will apply knowledge gained in computer science courses to real-world challenges, complete a challenging technical project with a team of Googlers and other STEP interns, enhance their coding skills using new tools and programming languages, attend training sessions to build professional skills, and be matched with a Google engineer mentor throughout the internship.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in first or second year of a Bachelor's degree, or combined Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region
• Available for a full-time 12-week internship from 30th June to 26th September 2025
• Programming experience in either Java, C++, or Python
• Preferred: Returning to a full-time Bachelor's degree for a minimum of two years after completing the internship
• Preferred: Experience in programming outside of university courses
• Preferred: Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed
