This Staff Research Engineer position within the Agent team presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI technology. The position requires a seasoned engineer with at least 5 years of Python development experience and proven expertise in machine learning systems. You'll be responsible for architecting and building robust, scalable platforms that support breakthrough research in agentic AI. This includes developing high-performance systems, implementing new agent logics, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of research infrastructure.

Working in a hybrid setting from either Paris or London, you'll collaborate with world-class AI talent in a multicultural environment. The role demands both technical excellence and strong leadership skills, as you'll be mentoring team members and bridging the gap between research and engineering. Your work will directly impact the development of next-generation AI agents that can automate complex, multi-step tasks.

Responsibilities For Staff Research Engineer (Agents)

  • Define and lead the technical architecture, design, and long-term engineering roadmap for agent research platforms
  • Develop and maintain complex, high-performance, and scalable systems
  • Mentor and guide other engineers and researchers on the team
  • Conduct thorough code and design reviews
  • Collaborate with researchers to implement, test, and productionize new agent logics and learning algorithms
  • Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and observability
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Champion technical innovation and address technical debt

Requirements For Staff Research Engineer (Agents)

Python
  • Previous demonstrable role(s) as a Staff, Principal, or Senior Engineer
  • Strong 5+ years of experience in Python development
  • Experience building, scaling, and shipping end-to-end solutions involving Machine Learning models
  • Proficiency in deep learning frameworks or agentic frameworks
  • Expertise in instrumentation, observability, and monitoring
  • Solid understanding of coding standards, architectural patterns, and test frameworks
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Impactful communication skills
  • Experience with distributed systems or cloud computing (preferred)
  • Experience in LLM training/fine-tuning (preferred)
  • Experience with Reinforcement Learning frameworks (preferred)
