Hinge, the dating app designed to be deleted, is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to revolutionize their Trust & Safety Operations. This role represents a unique opportunity to architect the future of AI-powered operations at one of the world's leading dating platforms.
The position involves building the foundational "operating system" for AI within Trust & Safety, encompassing everything from workflow orchestration to tool development for moderation and support teams. As a Staff Engineer, you'll be responsible for establishing the technical infrastructure that enables AI agents to become effective teammates for human operators.
The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring expertise in both AI systems and practical implementation. Responsibilities For Staff AI Engineer, Trust & Safety Operations
- Own the technical roadmap for AI automation across Moderation, Appeals, and Support workflows
- Prototype agentic solutions and integrate them with existing tools and systems
- Deliver reliable, scalable, and robust automations with appropriate evaluations and monitoring
- Drive adoption through documentation and training for non-technical operators
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, and Product Managers
- Embed safety, privacy, and responsible-AI standards into workflows
- Mentor ML Engineers and Platform Engineers on AI/ML trends
Requirements For Staff AI Engineer, Trust & Safety Operations
- 7+ years of software or machine-learning engineering experience
- 2+ years delivering solutions combining automated decision support with human-in-the-loop review
- 2+ years designing and tracking operational metrics
- 1+ years of hands-on work with agentic workflows
- Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- Deep Python skills and experience with foundation models
- Expertise in workflow-orchestration and agentic systems
- Backend and data-systems integration skills
- Experience in rapid prototyping and experimentation
