Hopper is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their Platform Infrastructure team, playing a crucial role in building and operating the cloud foundation that powers products used by millions of travelers worldwide. This position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $150,000 to $350,000 USD, including equity and comprehensive benefits.

The role focuses on empowering engineers across Hopper to ship fast, stay resilient, and scale effortlessly. You'll be working with a large-scale, multi-region infrastructure running in Google Cloud, supporting hundreds of engineers and dozens of product teams. The position involves building automated, self-service platform tools while ensuring the foundation remains secure, reliable, and cost-efficient.

Key responsibilities include improving platform tooling, designing scalable infrastructure workflows, driving automation initiatives, and participating in incident response as part of a globally distributed on-call rotation. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies including Kubernetes, Terraform, Istio, and various observability tools.

  • Improve and evolve platform tooling to support growing services and teams
  • Design infrastructure workflows for simple, consistent, and scalable deployments
  • Drive automation across key infrastructure components
  • Adapt and scale infrastructure offerings
  • Participate in incident response for platform-level issues
  • Support engineering teams with troubleshooting and infrastructure-related questions
  • Collaborate with SRE team on operational excellence

Requirements For Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Platform Infrastructure team

Kubernetes
Python
  • Professional experience in SRE, DevOps, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills
  • Solid system design and analytical thinking
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Deep familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Service Mesh technologies, preferably Istio
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Experience with observability stacks
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python or similar languages
