Kairos Power is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to lead the design and analysis of pressure vessels and other systems, structures and components (SSC) for a generation IV Nuclear Power Plant and related scaled prototype and engineering test plants. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meeting specific project requirements and ensuring technical correctness of design, compliance with codes and standards, and adherence to project budgets and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate vessels and mechanical components using FEA and other numerical/analytical techniques
- Perform stress analysis using classic and finite element analysis methods
- Develop tools and methods for analyzing pressure vessels and SSCs in compliance with ASME B&PV Codes
- Conduct fatigue, corrosion, and high-temperature creep life assessments
- Work with other disciplines to ensure integrated design meeting manufacturability and cost requirements
- Develop and use various calculation tools for design
- Review and certify design calculations and reports
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to department staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 8+ years of experience in chemical, power, or nuclear industry design and analysis
- 5+ years of experience in stress analysis and FEA
- Expertise in ASME B&PV Code Section III Division 5 and Section VIII
- Experience with Ansys and Solidworks
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
