Description For VERVE Software Engineer

KBR is seeking a VERVE Software Engineer to join their team at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. This remote position focuses on the development of a groundbreaking Lunar prospecting mission, specifically the VIPER mission, which aims to search for water ice in the Moon's polar regions. As part of the Rover Flight Software team, you'll work on the first planetary rover designed to venture into permanent darkness.

The role is situated within the Intelligent Robotics Group (IRG) at NASA Ames Research Center, which conducts cutting-edge research in robotics for Earth and space missions. Your primary responsibilities will involve maintaining and enhancing the VERVE driver interface and rover ground system software. This position requires expertise in robotics, distributed systems, and high-performance software development, particularly with C/C++ and GNU tools under Linux.

Linux
  • Strong background in robotics and/or distributed systems
  • Strong familiarity with NASA, lunar rover ground system development, and VERVE
  • Strong background in developing high-performance software, particularly with C/C++ and GNU tools under Linux
  • Experience with robot navigation and/or system software
  • Agile software development
