At Lapel, we believe the most hospitable companies win. We're building the data, infrastructure, and tools that help customer-facing teams understand every customer and act on that insight at scale.
Most internet businesses want to treat customers well, but their tools work against them. We're building the layer that makes service feel personal again: unifying context, coordinating action, and closing the gap between intent and experience.
It's a technically ambitious challenge spanning data infrastructure, AI, and systems design—with a deeply human outcome: helping software companies serve people better. We call it hospitality at scale.
We're well-funded, backed by top-tier investors, and already working with incredible companies, from fast-growing startups to large enterprises. As one of the first engineers, you'll work directly with the founders to shape the foundation of our product, infrastructure, and engineering culture.
You'll be responsible for building, operating, and scaling the Lapel platform from the ground up. Working closely with founders and designers, you'll translate ideas into robust products while helping define backend architecture and infrastructure decisions. You'll own key projects end-to-end using cutting-edge technologies like TypeScript, Drizzle, Temporal, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Pulsar, and LLMs.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of engineering experience with a track record of shipping high-quality products at scale. You should be customer-obsessed, creative, and thrive in fast-paced environments. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a willingness to go the extra mile.
This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage startup tackling the fundamental challenge of helping businesses deliver more personal service at scale. You'll work from our San Francisco HQ alongside a talented founding team, with competitive compensation including meaningful equity and comprehensive benefits.
Join us in building the future of customer experience - where technology enhances rather than replaces the human touch.
