Lead Software Engineer

At Loft Orbital, we are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Test Infrastructure team. With 4 satellites on-orbit and exciting missions launching soon, we're scaling up globally with offices in San Francisco, Golden, and Toulouse. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying customer-facing integration test products, breaking down large problems, and leading sprints and releases. We value product-minded engineers with strong software engineering principles and experience in setting up software infrastructures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, developing, deploying, and managing customer-facing integration products
• Collaborating on software and deployment architectures
• Providing architectural guidance for scalability, performance, and security
• Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and break down large efforts
• Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of innovation
• Assisting with product roadmap maintenance and release planning

We're looking for someone who can work independently, wear multiple hats, and isn't afraid to explore new technologies. Our culture promotes collaboration and ownership, working closely with internal and external teams.

Must-have qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software development or architecture in product development
• Experience leading software development projects
• Proficiency in Python and product development environment experience
• Strong experience with Linux systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Yocto)
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of container creation, configuration, and management (preferably Docker)

Nice-to-have skills:

• Web service development experience
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• Knowledge of deployment security and image hardening
• Experience deploying software to remote hardware in various environments
• Familiarity with Kubernetes
