Description For Data Engineer II, Search Boundaries

Mapbox, the leading real-time location platform, is seeking a Data Engineer II for their Search Boundaries team. This role is crucial in maintaining and expanding Mapbox Boundaries, an expertly curated set of global boundary data used in maps, dashboards, and data visualizations. The position involves working with geospatial data, developing processing pipelines, and ensuring high-quality data delivery to customers.

As part of the Search Data organization, you'll be responsible for keeping boundary data current and accessible for Mapbox developers. The role focuses on data engineering for feature expansion, improving coverage, increasing polygon precision, and building pipelines to ingest new data sources. You'll work with various GIS tools, AWS technologies, and programming languages to process and maintain geographic data.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in data pipelines, strong expertise in GIS tools, and proficiency in programming languages like Python or Java. Knowledge of AWS services, Docker, and CI/CD processes is essential. Experience with OSM and Wikidata is valuable, as is understanding of global boundary disputes.
