Meta is seeking an experienced Performance & Capacity Engineer to join their Capacity Engineering & Analysis team in a role that sits at the critical intersection of Meta's product infrastructure and physical systems. The role focuses on creating and optimizing global and regional capacity plans that balance service requirements, infrastructure capabilities, financial constraints, and business objectives. The position manages billions of dollars in annual investments through software and mathematical optimization models rather than manual planning processes. This is one of Meta's most cross-functional positions, working across engineering and business teams to support the company's rapid growth and diverse product portfolio including advanced AI and Metaverse technologies.
As a Performance & Capacity Engineer, you'll be responsible for capacity planning across Meta's entire infrastructure, from software products and services to server and data center resources. You'll develop and analyze complex business and technical scenarios to inform executive decision-making up to the CxO level. The role requires deep understanding of end-to-end capacity planning processes and the ability to deliver executable, optimized plans while managing critical escalations across all infrastructure layers.
The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and some of the largest computing systems in the world. You'll collaborate with software service owners, Production Engineering, Server Hardware Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Center teams, and Finance to optimize infrastructure scaling and service placement. The role requires strong technical skills including programming experience in languages like Python, Java, and C++, as well as experience with distributed systems at scale.
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of performance or software engineering experience, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
