Software Engineer – SW Specialist - Systems

As a Software Engineer – SW Specialist - Systems at Meta, you will:

• Build infrastructure and internal tools to support research teams
• Develop reusable software libraries and applications for fast prototyping
• Create reusable software building blocks in web frameworks, Hack, and Python
• Build new internal tools and improve existing ones
• Integrate and implement system-level software solutions for research activities
• Work closely with researchers and research software engineers
• Apply knowledge of relevant research domains to platform and framework development
• Build software, tools, infrastructure, and documentation to enhance research efficiency
• Coordinate with internal infrastructure and tool teams across Meta
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Write clean, readable code and debug complex problems across systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and 3 years of experience; OR 5 years of work experience in a computer-related occupation
• 3 years of experience in:
  1. Developing web-based applications at scale using React, GraphQL, and Hack/PHP
  2. Data management skills including schema designs, data processing, and visualization (SQL)
  3. Using development tools including code editors, revision control systems, and agile practices
  4. Scripting languages like Bash, Powershell, or Python
  5. Software development, debugging, and shipping products on large code bases in a cloud environment
  6. Software development practices including source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and profiling
  7. Working with code bases covering different layers in the firmware/software stack
