Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division is seeking a Critical Environment (CE) Platform Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's global online services. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies across more than 100 datacenters supporting over 1 billion customers worldwide.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing CE infrastructure across unified global datacenters, focusing on automation, data-driven engineering, and environmental sustainability. You'll work with a team of Service Engineers on innovative solutions while having the flexibility of remote work.

The role requires expertise in both Windows and Linux environments, with a focus on DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, and system configuration. Responsibilities For Critical Environment (CE) Platform Engineer

  • Support hybrid CI/CD DevOps virtualized infrastructure
  • Perform and maintain automated operating system installation and configuration
  • Configure and maintain bare metal enterprise-class server systems
  • Monitor servers and ensure SLAs and KPIs are met
  • Provide 24/7/365 service and infrastructure operations support
  • Partner with global team on project delivery
  • Maintain documentation and share knowledge

Requirements For Critical Environment (CE) Platform Engineer

Linux
Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Experience with UNIX-based operating systems and Linux distributions
  • Understanding of system installation, configuration, and monitoring
  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Knowledge of server & tooling platforms for infrastructure services
