Description For Critical Infrastructure Network Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Network Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in delivering Critical Environments infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

The position involves network design and operations work to enhance the availability and scalability of the CE Network, participating in on-call DRI rotation, and handling complex incident management. Key responsibilities include performing technical analysis, leading network architecture design, installing and maintaining network hardware, and working with technologies like IPv4, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and VXLAN.

The ideal candidate should have experience with enterprise automation using Ansible, Python, Terraform, or equivalent tools. Knowledge of network authentication systems and industrial control systems is preferred. The role offers flexible workplace arrangements with options for remote work.

Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Network Engineer

  • Perform technical analysis and lead network architecture design
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain network hardware and software
  • Participate in on-call DRI rotation
  • Handle Layer 3 technologies including IPv4, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
  • Monitor network system state using SNMP, Sflow/netflow, and Telemetry
  • Collaborate with IT staff and business personnel
  • Provide training and guidance for less experienced staff

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Network Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • Understanding of enterprise automation using Ansible, Python, Terraform, or equivalent
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience with network authentication systems (preferred)
  • Industry certifications like CCNP or CCIE Route & Switch (preferred)
