Description For Design Manager - Data Center

Microsoft is seeking a Site Due Diligence Senior Design Manager for their Data Center operations in the EMEA region. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of Microsoft's industry-leading datacenter designs. Reporting to the Site Due Diligence Datacenter Engineering Programme Manager, you'll manage engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit projects. The position involves overseeing internal and external resources for datacenter building delivery, including master planning and infrastructure planning aligned with Microsoft's datacenter capacity roadmap.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in technical site due diligence and cross-functional project management, combined with strong architectural and engineering expertise focused on datacenter design. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent projects while coordinating with various stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Provide design management and technical direction for datacenter architectural/engineering designs
  • Oversee delivery of multiple Site Due Diligence solutions
  • Manage design deliverables of MS consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate team of architects, engineers and designers
  • Engage with key MS stakeholder groups and outside vendors
  • Prepare Scope of Services, Requests for Quotation, and assess consultant submissions

Requirements For Design Manager - Data Center

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in running technical site due diligence programmes
  • Extensive experience in managing cross-functional projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • High proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture
  • Experience in datacenter design
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Senior level experience in delivering engineering/construction infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience as lead engineer, architect, or design manager
  • Track record in data centre/mission critical section
