Description For Hardware Quality Engineer II

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is seeking a Hardware Quality Engineer II to join their team. This role is crucial in Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure, powering the company's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. The position involves ensuring high-quality manufacturing of hardware infrastructure, improving planning processes, and maintaining quality standards for Microsoft's cloud hardware.

The role requires expertise in hardware system issue resolution, particularly for GPU Servers, and involves developing supplier quality management strategies, conducting failure analysis, and driving continuous improvement processes. You'll work with modern server architectures, focusing on GPU and CPU debugging, and lead quality improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Reliability, or Electrical), with proven experience in hardware system issue resolution and quality management. Responsibilities For Hardware Quality Engineer II

  • Develop and implement robust supplier quality management strategy for data center hardware
  • Lead quality issues and improvement task force
  • Conduct debug and failure analysis for GPU subsystems in Azure fleet
  • Drive continuous improvement process based on Root Cause Analysis
  • Responsible for quality readouts based on telemetry data analysis
  • Establish Critical-to-Quality performance metrics
  • Act as the voice of quality in hardware change management process

Requirements For Hardware Quality Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years technical engineering experience
  • 3+ years of direct engineering experience in hardware system issue resolution for GPU Servers
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Understanding of GPU, CPU methods for failure analysis, debugging or validation
  • Experience in system level server debugging
  • Direct GPU related engineering experience in issue debug/test log review
