Microsoft Quantum is seeking a Senior UHV Hardware Development Engineer to join their team in Copenhagen, Denmark. This role offers an opportunity to have a meaningful influence on revolutionary technology in quantum computing. The successful candidate will drive the development of complex mechanical and electromechanical UHV and nanofabrication equipment capabilities for the manufacturing of nanoscale components for topological quantum computers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing development projects of complex UHV and HV Semiconductor equipment & cleanroom equipment
- Collaborating with UHV and Semiconductor equipment suppliers
- Developing mechanical, optomechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic designs
- Creating technical drawings, vacuum and electrical schematics using CAD software
- Developing automation for UHV equipment and complex motion DOF devices
- Researching and applying new technologies and materials
- Conducting tests and experiments to verify design specifications
- Preparing technical reports and documentation
The ideal candidate should have:
- PhD, MSc, or BSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Optomechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Experience in UHV and Semiconductor equipment design and development
- Strong CAD skills, particularly in SolidWorks
- FEA thermal and structural analysis skills
- Basic Python programming knowledge
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time
