Description For Site Reliability Engineer II

Microsoft's Cloud & AI organization is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to join their Red Team, which plays a crucial role in securing Microsoft's digital platforms and services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team that actively tests and improves Microsoft's security posture across all services.

As an SRE II, you'll be responsible for managing and securing critical infrastructure that supports the red team's offensive security operations. Your role will involve building sophisticated automation for ephemeral attack infrastructure, managing isolated productivity environments, and implementing robust security policies and monitoring systems. This unique position requires balancing offensive security capabilities with maintaining stringent security standards.

The role is based in Redmond, WA, with a hybrid work arrangement allowing up to 50% work from home. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $100,600 to $199,000 per year (higher in SF and NYC areas), along with comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and parental leave.

  • Design, implement, and support automation for deploying attack infrastructure for offensive security teams
  • Design, implement, and support isolated identity and productivity environments for sensitive operations
  • Build and support centralized engineering and DevOps systems for red team developers
  • Establish and apply security hygiene and monitoring policies meet Microsoft security requirements
  • Support red team operations with infrastructure needs as required

Requirements For Site Reliability Engineer II

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration OR Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years experience
  • 1+ years of experience in security engineering, threat modelling, review, or design
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Developer, or DevOps engineer (preferred)
