Description For Manager, Project Accounting (Finance)

Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Project Accounting (Finance) to lead and manage a team of accounting professionals working across the full life-cycle of project accounting for all AEC sectors, projects, and the family of companies at Milhouse.

The role involves working closely with Project teams, Engineering and Construction technical leadership, and the Finance & Accounting team to monitor and support the capture of billable hours, maximize invoicing accuracy and revenue opportunities, and maintain project records for compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing the project accounting team
  • Managing processes for invoice preparation
  • Understanding and developing the team in areas of compensation, payment clauses, and revenue enhancers
  • Performing estimates to completion and revenue determinations
  • Supporting key processes impacting monthly financial metrics
  • Ensuring project set-up and maintenance within the system of record
  • Overseeing compliance with sub change orders, owner billings, and other financial aspects

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 5-7 years of experience in project accounting and revenue assurance
  • 1-3 years of related leadership experience
  • Experience in the Engineering or Construction industry
  • Proficiency in Deltek software
  • Strong Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities For Manager, Project Accounting (Finance)

  • Lead, manage and develop the project accounting team
  • Manage processes for invoice preparation
  • Understand and develop team in areas of compensation, payment clauses, and revenue enhancers
  • Provide information on project status
  • Perform estimates to completion and revenue determinations
  • Support key processes impacting monthly financial metrics
  • Ensure project set-up and maintenance within system of record
  • Oversee compliance with sub change orders, owner billings, and other financial aspects
  • Understand project cost systems and information processed
  • Perform other related accounting/financial tasks as assigned

Requirements For Manager, Project Accounting (Finance)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in project accounting and revenue assurance
  • 1-3 years of related leadership experience
  • Experience in the Engineering or Construction industry
  • Working Knowledge in Deltek software
  • Strong Excel, Word, and Outlook knowledge
  • Collaborative and results-driven written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet monthly metrics and work in a dynamic changing environment
  • Ability to interpret and manage various project accounting data and documents
  • Proven ability as a self-starter
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, including cross-functional
