Description For Data Visualization Engineer (L5) - Product

Netflix, the world's leading entertainment service, is seeking a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This role combines technical expertise in data visualization with strategic thinking to help Netflix make better decisions about their infrastructure. The position offers an opportunity to work with a sophisticated tech stack including JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Python, while collaborating with Analytics Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists.

The role involves creating compelling data visualizations and tools that help tell the story of Netflix's infrastructure usage, working closely with engineering leadership and Strategy, Planning & Analysis partners. You'll be responsible for bringing together multiple data sources and metrics to keep the business informed about infrastructure system performance, while also providing mentorship to other team members.

Responsibilities For Data Visualization Engineer (L5) - Product

  • Create vision for infrastructure data storytelling and build consensus with Engineering Leadership and Strategy teams
  • Integrate multiple data sources and metrics to inform about infrastructure systems performance
  • Rapidly iterate on designs based on user feedback
  • Work with Data Engineering partners to ensure quality data for products
  • Provide mentorship to other analytics practitioners
  • Connect with Netflix analytics community to increase work visibility

Requirements For Data Visualization Engineer (L5) - Product

  • Experience delivering visualization tools for technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks (React, React Router, React Query, Node)
  • Experience with data visualization tools, especially React and D3
  • Ability to work full stack with data pipelines using SQL or Python
  • Strong product thinking and good product sense
  • Exceptional communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and minimal oversight
