Description For Staff Mechanical Engineer, I&A

Noah Medical is building the future of medical robotics, focusing on early diagnosis and treatment across multiple indications. The Instruments and Accessories (I&A) Team is responsible for developing safe and effective endoluminal instruments and accessories. As a Staff Mechanical Engineer in the I&A team, you'll lead the conceptualization, design, and development of endoluminal robotic endoscopes and instruments. You'll create and maintain design documentation, iterate and test product designs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply DFM/DFA principles to transition prototypes into production. The role requires expertise in various manufacturing techniques, a versatile engineering background, and experience in medical device development. You'll work in a dynamic, data-driven team that values creative problem-solving and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of endoluminal robotic endoscopes and instruments
  • Create and maintain design documentation, including CAD models and detailed drawings
  • Quickly iterate and test product designs
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and clinical teams
  • Work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to address integration challenges
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles for production transition
  • Foster collaboration and support team development

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
  • 8+ years of directly related experience (for B.S. degree)
  • Expertise in various manufacturing techniques for surgical instruments and catheter-like devices
  • Versatile engineering background, comfortable with hardware and electronics
  • Experience in medical device development or similarly regulated industry
  • Advanced Solidworks or OnShape user (5+ years)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and communication abilities

Responsibilities For Staff Mechanical Engineer, I&A

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of endoluminal robotic endoscopes and instruments
  • Create and maintain design documentation including CAD models, detailed drawings, manufacturing instructions and other engineering models
  • Quickly iterate and test product designs, factoring in testing requirements, potential rapid prototyping techniques and future at-scale manufacturing implications
  • Collaborate with product, marketing and clinical teams to explore and refine requirements and establish clinically relevant test methods
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to proactively identify and mitigate integration challenges
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to transition prototypes into production, resolving manufacturing and supply chain issues
  • Champion the Noah Medical culture, foster collaboration and support team development

Requirements For Staff Mechanical Engineer, I&A

  • B.S. or M.S. preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with required years of directly related experience (B.S.+8yrs; M.S.+6yrs, etc)
  • Expertise in machining, injection molding, extrusion, 3D printing, laser cutting and other manufacturing techniques for surgical instruments and catheter-like devices
  • Versatile engineering background, comfortable at the intersection of hardware and electronics
  • Experienced in medical device development, or similarly regulated industry
  • Advanced Solidworks or OnShape user (5+years), or similar CAD tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication
