Ruby Developer - Smart Pear

Smart Pear, a part of Kraken Technologies UK, is seeking a Junior Ruby Developer to join their team. This role involves working on the DCC Adaptor, which enables Kraken to communicate with smart meters via the DCC. The ideal candidate will be passionate about understanding complex business problems, developing code-based solutions, and maintaining them to provide excellent service and support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working in a cross-functional team to analyze issues and develop solutions
• Undertaking technical and security-related tasks across process design, architecture, coding, testing, and deployment
• Providing support to customers and other tech teams within Kraken
• Refining and adding to design process documentation

Required skills and experience:

• Working with Ruby (with Sinatra)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience with design approaches like sequence diagrams and use cases
• Knowledge of AWS and cloud-based architecture
• Familiarity with project management software like Asana or Jira
• Understanding of agile processes

Bonus skills:

• Knowledge of the GB energy market and smart metering
• Experience with XML and JSON
