Description For Security Engineer

Kraken Technologies UK, part of the Octopus Energy Group, is seeking a Security Engineer to join their team. This role is perfect for individuals with SOC experience looking to focus more on engineering, those with an engineering background wanting to specialize in security, or professionals with a TechOps background interested in security tooling.

As a Security Engineer, you'll be part of a small but growing security team with a wide range of active and planned projects across the entire Octopus Energy Group. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintaining security logging, monitoring, and alerting processes and tooling
  2. Responding to security alerts, improving detections, and reducing false positives
  3. Operating security tooling in line with best practices and internal requirements
  4. Assisting TechOps and other teams in maintaining their services according to good security practices
  5. Supporting security incident response, remediation, and root cause analysis
  6. Helping to manage AWS native security services
  7. Participating in the company's information security program
  8. Collaborating with colleagues across various teams to support security strategies and initiatives
  9. Supporting the implementation of security processes and requirements
  10. Staying up-to-date with emerging security threats, technologies, and industry trends

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong background in information security and technology
  • Experience in security teams maintaining and improving security logging, monitoring, and alerting
  • Experience managing security tooling such as endpoint security, email security, SIEM and SOAR systems, and vulnerability management tools
  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud security
  • Understanding of information security standards like ISO 27001
  • Knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework
