Performance & Systems Engineer, Codex

OpenAI is seeking a Performance & Systems Engineer for their Codex team, a crucial role focused on optimizing AI systems that write code and reason about software. This position offers a competitive salary range of $380K-$460K plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model (3 days in office), this role demands a skilled generalist who can identify and implement high-leverage changes across infrastructure, modeling, and product layers.

As a Performance & Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for whole-system optimization across a complex stack that includes LLM inference, cloud orchestration, and agentic work management.
