Description For Research Engineer, Post-training Model Capability

OpenAI is seeking a Research Engineer for Post-training Model Capability to join their team responsible for the "post-training" or alignment of models behind ChatGPT and the API. This role involves creating a state-of-the-art post-training suite to enhance capabilities of large models for customers and consumers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building product improvement flywheels
  • Improving speech2speech modeling capabilities
  • Building multimodal LLMs with strategic partners
  • Conducting research on new post-training methods
  • Collaborating with the applied organization to enable customers to optimize their own models

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Deep understanding of machine learning and its applications
  • Experience tuning large language models (multimodal) and building evaluations
  • Ability to dive into large ML codebases for debugging
  • Thrives in a dynamic and technically complex environment
  • Track record of delivering novel solutions to real-world constraints

OpenAI offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $360K with additional equity.
