Description For Software Engineer, Triton Compiler

OpenAI, a leading AI research and deployment company, is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Triton Compiler team within the Research Acceleration department. This role is perfect for those who love research tools, compilers, and collaborating on cutting-edge AI models.

As a Software Engineer at OpenAI, you'll be at the forefront of AI development, working on projects that push the boundaries of what's possible in artificial intelligence. Your primary focus will be on the Triton project, an open-source language and compiler for writing custom GPU kernels. The goal of Triton is to provide a high-productivity environment for writing fast code, surpassing the efficiency of CUDA.

In this role, you'll be responsible for building high-quality research tools and frameworks that increase research productivity across OpenAI. Your work will directly contribute to accelerating progress towards AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). You'll collaborate with various teams, including the Codegen research team, to speed up the development of new state-of-the-art capabilities.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and optimizing state-of-the-art AI models, writing bug-free machine learning code, and building the science behind the algorithms employed. You'll need to be self-directed and enjoy determining the most meaningful problems to solve in order to accelerate OpenAI's research.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant engineering experience and a track record of owning problems end-to-end. You should be willing to pick up whatever knowledge is missing to get the job done. Experience with AI frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, or compilers such as GCC, LLVM, or MLIR, is a significant bonus.

OpenAI offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $200,000 to $370,000, generous equity, and comprehensive benefits. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family, mental health support, a 401(k) plan with 50% matching, unlimited time off, paid parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.

Join OpenAI in their mission to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. This is your chance to be part of a team that's shaping the future of technology and making a positive impact on the world. Apply now to contribute to groundbreaking AI research and development at OpenAI!
