Description For Associate Software Engineer

OpenBet, a global leader in betting and gaming entertainment with over 25 years of experience, is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join their innovative team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to work on web applications using Node.js and React.js, with exposure to cloud-native development using AWS services.

The role involves contributing to OpenBet Locator / Casino development efforts, where you'll work under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams. You'll be responsible for writing basic unit tests, participating in code reviews, and maintaining code quality while learning from experienced team members.

OpenBet's platform powers over 200 partners worldwide, processing bets during major events like the FIFA World Cup and Super Bowl. With 85 licenses, 20 World Lottery Association operators, and a team of 1,200+ experts across 14 countries, you'll be part of a company that maintains 100% uptime and unmatched scale.

The ideal candidate should have some experience with Node.js and React.js, either through internships, projects, or early professional work. You'll need a basic understanding of RESTful APIs, exposure to SQL databases, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of AWS services, Git, CI/CD tools, and container technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities For Associate Software Engineer

  • Write basic unit tests and participate in code reviews
  • Maintain code quality and learn from feedback provided by senior team members
  • Participate in planning sessions and Agile ceremonies
  • Learn and contribute to performance, security, and scalability considerations under mentorship
  • Build understanding of the overall system architecture
  • Actively participate in team stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Identify and raise potential issues or areas for improvement
  • Implement basic customer requirements with assistance
  • Follow coding standards and practices set by the team

Requirements For Associate Software Engineer

Node.js
React
  • Some experience (internships, projects, or 6-12 months) using Node.js / React.js
  • Strong willingness to learn and pick up new technologies
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Exposure to relational databases (SQL)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to receive and act on feedback
