MySQL Heatwave - Software Developer Intern (6 month duration)

Oracle is seeking a MySQL Heatwave Software Developer Intern for a 6-month duration. This role is intended for current graduate-level students (MS/PhD) enrolled in a full-time degree program. The intern will work with the HeatWave team on next-generation large-scale distributed systems designed for the world's most popular database and optimized for the cloud.

Key responsibilities include:

• Database kernel development
• System software, including operating system kernels
• Cloud computing
• Machine learning
• Query processing/big data analytics

Requirements:

• Enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent for 2025-2026
• Proficient in at least two programming languages: C/C++, Java, Python, SQL
• Coursework or experience in: Compilers, Software Architecture, Computer Systems, Distributed Programming, Multithreaded Programming, Object-Oriented Design, AI/ML, Big Data, Networking
• Strong background in design and development
• Demonstrated research excellence
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Reside in Canada and/or attend a university in Canada
• Able to obtain work authorization in Canada in 2025
