The Platform Engineering team within Pixar Software R&D builds and maintains the development infrastructure that underpins the Studio's software release process, as well as critical aspects of the film production pipeline. This infrastructure is the foundation for development and release of both Pixar's proprietary animation software and the open source OpenUSD project.
As a Software Engineer on the Platform team, you'll be part of expanding OpenUSD's development infrastructure to support USD's continued evolution. The role requires deep understanding of software application engineering and the ability to collaborate in a large cross-functional team of developers. You'll be crafting robust, easy to maintain software systems while working with cutting-edge animation technology.
The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and animation, contributing to tools that power some of the world's most beloved animated films. You'll be joining Pixar Animation Studios, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company and an Academy Award®-winning film studio that has created iconic films like "Toy Story," "Monsters, Inc.," "The Incredibles," and "Inside Out."
The role combines technical challenges with creative problem-solving, as you'll be working on infrastructure that enables both proprietary animation software and open source projects. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and project managers while building and maintaining critical development tools.
The compensation is competitive, ranging from $145,265 to $187,990 per year, reflecting the high-level technical expertise required. Benefits include working in Pixar's Emeryville campus, being part of The Walt Disney Company's entertainment legacy, and contributing to technology that shapes the future of animation.
