Description For Technical Leader – Platform Automation & Developer Experience

Rockwell Automation, a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation with over 28,000 employees, is seeking a Technical Leader for their Platform Automation and Developer Experience practice. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on platform development, focusing on improving developer experience through automation and modernization of development environments.

The position involves leading the creation of a democratized, self-service library of reusable platform components, treating each component as a product and automating its lifecycle. The successful candidate will work with multiple development teams to architect, provision, and monitor development environments, with the ultimate goal of streamlining the developer experience through platform automation.

This hybrid role, based in Pune or Bangalore, India, reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, IT. The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of leadership experience in systems/platform development, with deep expertise in DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software architectures. They should be a "systems thinker" capable of seeing the big picture while managing technical details.

Responsibilities For Technical Leader – Platform Automation & Developer Experience

  • Lead/Build a team dedicated to improving developer experience through platform automation
  • Develop and implement strategy to enhance developer experience across the organization
  • Lead creation and adoption of shared service for CI/CD pipeline platform components
  • Partner with Development teams to create shared, self-service library of platform components
  • Build observability into build chains, CI/CD pipelines, and automations
  • Establish metrics and monitor Platform products
  • Collaborate with Build/DevOps/SRE Engineers in pipeline support
  • Create standardized test cases in CI/CD pipelines

Requirements For Technical Leader – Platform Automation & Developer Experience

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years experience leading systems or platform development teams
  • Track record in modern software architectures
  • 4 years experience leading DevSecOps teams
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery practices, Agile/SAFe
  • Ability to lead diverse groups into common solution framework
  • Deep understanding of platform components, architecture, and lifecycle
