This role is part of a crucial initiative to build a scalable, operational-quality Next Generation Water Resources Modeling Framework for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS).

The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge geospatial software development, focusing on enterprise-scale solutions for water resource management and flood forecasting operations. As a Principal Engineer, you'll lead the development of Enterprise Hydrofabric and architect scalable geospatial services using modern technologies and cloud platforms.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in geospatial technologies, cloud computing, and software engineering. You'll work with advanced technologies including STAC, Zarr, GeoTIFFs, and various cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

This remote position offers a competitive salary range of $101,000 - $203,000 USD, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible work arrangements, and more. The role requires U.S. citizenship due to program requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of experience, strong technical expertise in geospatial software development, and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives while collaborating with government stakeholders.
