Description For Data Engineer (Azure)

RVU, a dynamic company combining startup agility with established expertise, is seeking a Data Engineer (Azure) for their sister company, Tempcover. This role is part of the Data and Analytics team, crucial in bringing data, MI, and insights to life for stakeholders and partners. As a Data Engineer, you'll focus on integrating and maintaining the cloud-based data platform, supporting key data products for Tempcover's growth.

In the past year, the team has worked on integrations with a new CRM tool, significantly improving marketing performance. They've also developed an extensive model of customer and Google Analytics data, providing valuable insights into customer profiles.

This hands-on role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in a data-driven business while adhering to IT standards and processes. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining data pipelines, implementing process improvements, performance monitoring, ensuring data availability, collaborating with the MI & Analytics team, and maintaining data quality.

The ideal candidate should be confident in ELT processes, data modeling, MS SQL Server/Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory (or similar ETL tools). Experience with REST APIs, .NET/Python, and Azure DevOps is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer (Azure)

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and ELT processes using Azure Data Factory
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, planning for greater scalability
  • Performance monitoring/tuning of pipelines and queries
  • Provide continued support to ensure high availability of data to the wider business
  • Collaborate with the MI & Analytics team to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective data models
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to understand requirements for data
  • Work with rigour to ensure data quality/accuracy
  • Identify issues and their underlying causes and clearly communicate them
  • Verify and validate data models, including reconciliation to operational systems
  • Communicate the status of work in progress and planned work in daily stand-up meetings
  • Proactively suggest backlog items that add value to the Data team's effectiveness and quality of data

Requirements For Data Engineer (Azure)

Python
  • Confident in ELT processes
  • Data modelling
  • MS SQL Server/Azure SQL
  • Azure Data Factory, or a similar ETL orchestration tool
  • Experience with REST APIs (beneficial)
  • Experience with .NET/Python programming languages (beneficial)
  • Ability to work within a SCRUM agile development environment

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
