Description For Device Integration Engineer

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is one of the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the world and an integral part of Central Texas for more than 28 years, driving job generation, economic impact and engagement with the surrounding community.

Samsung Austin Semiconductor serves a global customer base with broad semiconductor process technology offerings that impact everyday life including mobile, graphic, consumer, networking/high performance computing, Internet of Things, RF and automotive. Through successful collaborations with foundry customers and a continuous drive to develop the most cutting-edge technologies, Samsung Austin Semiconductor has become a major player in the foundry market. Samsung Austin Semiconductor's technology portfolio for the Austin campus ranges from 65nm to 28nm using planar transistor technology to the more advanced 14nm 3D FinFet technology.

Samsung has invested $18 billion in operating two fabs at the Austin, Texas campus on Parmer Lane, since 1996 -- making it one of the largest direct foreign investments in United States history. The Austin site consists of 2.76 million square feet and more than 600+ acres in land holdings. Samsung Austin Semiconductor's economic impact in 2023 generated $15 billion into Austin's economy through salaries and other expenditures.

In 2021, Samsung announced a new facility in Taylor, Texas, where it plans to invest a minimum $17 billion in the build-out. The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

With more than 5,000 employees supporting both campuses, Samsung Austin Semiconductor is a premier and growing employer who provides a great place to work, is committed to environmental stewardship and being a good corporate citizenship. Our employees are the key to our success and we invest in our people with competitive compensation & benefit packages, career development opportunities and programs that enhance physical, emotional and intellectual well-being. Our employees work at the Austin campus located on Parmer Lane in northeast Austin and the construction campus in Taylor, Texas.

Job Summary/Overview:

SAS is seeking a highly driven candidate to join the Device Integration team. As a Device Integration Engineer, one will be responsible for optimization of transistor performance and targeting to maximize product yield. In addition, one would work to improve quality and reliability for several products across multiple Customer account(s) while also developing and implementing ideas to improve systematic yield and productivity issues across the factory.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Ensure targeting of transistor focused Electrical Test (ET) trends to Customer/Product Specifications and perform timely root cause study to shifts or abnormality. Analyze process interactions (inline metrology, FDC, etc.) to ET while also understanding ET data effect on Parametric Yield.
  • Owns Parametric Yield and Wafer Acceptance Electrical Test (WAT) management for one or more Customer Accounts/Products from New Product Introduction (NPI) Stage thru Mass Production.
  • Execute, and analyze experiments to optimize Transistor performance/variation with end goal of improving Parametric Yield.
  • Drive Task Force Teams to solve systematic Yield and other Fab-wide issues.
  • Support unit process (ex: CMP, Etch, etc) or process integration team with evaluation of device impact for key change points (ex: cost/step reduction, throughput improvement, etc.) across the factory.
  • Generate written reports and oral presentations for internal management, external teams, and sometimes company executives.

Shift: 1st Shift, 8am-5pm M-F with periodic after hours required

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required:
