Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) are seeking a Senior Staff Physical Design Feasibility Engineer to join their team building high-performance computing devices. This role focuses on driving the performance, power, and area (PPA) optimization of complex ASIC designs, particularly in GPU development.
The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, including the Xclipse GPU - the first mobile GPU with ray tracing technology for Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The role involves collaboration with various teams, from architects to RTL designers, ensuring successful delivery from initial floor planning through to tape-out.
The Physical Design group is part of the larger Design Implementation team at SARC/ACL, offering a fast-paced environment where engineers can expand their technical expertise across different areas of design implementation. The team culture is highly collaborative, with strong leadership support for innovation and new ideas.
The compensation package is comprehensive, including a base salary range of $180,200 to $297,200, plus benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), onsite lunch, tuition assistance, and more. The position also offers potential participation in long-term incentive plans and relocation assistance.
This role requires expertise in GPU/ASIC design, strong technical skills in physical design implementation, and the ability to work with various scripting languages. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience (or equivalent with advanced degrees) and a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs that meet PPA goals.
