SpaceX is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer for their Starship program. The Starship Aerodynamics team is responsible for predicting the aerodynamics and aerothermal environments booster and ship experience during all phases of their missions. Aerodynamics engineers use engineering models, simulations and wind-tunnel testing to provide accurate predictions ahead of flight validation. The team works closely with the GNC (guidance, navigation, and control) team to enable safe landing and recovery of both Starship stages. They also support engineers responsible for vehicle structures during design efforts.
Responsibilities include:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least 1 year of experience with aerodynamic and aerothermal analysis. Preferred skills include a Master's or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering, experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+, NASA entry vehicle solvers, experimental testing, data processing in MATLAB or Python, and a strong background in external, compressible fluid dynamics.
This role offers competitive compensation, with a pay range of $95,000 - $115,000 for Level I and $110,000 - $130,000 for Level II. SpaceX provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical coverage, 401(k), stock options, and paid time off.
Join SpaceX in their mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species and contribute to the development of groundbreaking space technologies.
