Description For Integration & Test Engineer (Falcon Payloads)

SpaceX, founded on the belief that exploring the stars is humanity's exciting future, is seeking an Integration & Test Engineer for the Composites Test group. This role involves developing SpaceX's newest products in a fast-paced environment, focusing on reducing production time and increasing safety and reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating test stand, equipment, and process concepts
  • Designing and analyzing structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Supervising test stand integration
  • Operating test stands with high attention to detail
  • Developing manufacturing processes and technical instructions
  • Refining existing hardware and procedures
  • Managing multiple priorities and leading external fit checks

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, design, test, or development
  • Experience in high-pace production environments
  • Strong engineering intuition and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in GD&T, CAD software, and basic analysis programs
  • Experience with FEA, hands-on design, and fabrication
  • Basic programming skills
  • Ability to drive projects to completion

This role may require up to 25% travel, the ability to pass Air Force background checks, and willingness to work extended hours. Responsibilities For Integration & Test Engineer (Falcon Payloads)

  • Create test stand, equipment, and process concepts
  • Create fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, instrumentation lists
  • Design and analyze structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient manufacturing
  • Supervise the integration of test stands and equipment
  • Operate test stands with great attention to detail
  • Develop manufacturing processes and write detailed technical instructions
  • Refine existing hardware and procedures based on lessons learned
  • Collaborate with technicians to evaluate and resolve non-conformances
  • Manage and track multiple priorities while leading external fit checks/checkouts

Requirements For Integration & Test Engineer (Falcon Payloads)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, design, test, or development
  • Experience in a high-pace production environment
  • Engineering intuition, critical thinking, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Documentation and configuration management experience
  • Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience interacting with CAD software and basic analysis programs
  • Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Hands-on design and fabrication experience
  • Basic programming skills (Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS preferred)
  • Experience testing propulsion, thermal, electrical and/or large structural systems
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures and providing go/no-go judgment
  • Data acquisition and controls experience
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks
  • Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Comfort with standing, stooping, bending and working in tight areas
