Suno is revolutionizing the music creation landscape with its AI-powered platform that democratizes music making for creators of all levels. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Android team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of music creation on mobile devices.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with the founding team, where you'll have significant ownership and influence over technical and design decisions for Suno's Android application. This role is perfect for an experienced Android developer who combines technical excellence with a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.

Your responsibilities will span the entire spectrum of Android development, from designing and building the core app functionality to creating foundational abstractions for high-performance media experiences. You'll be instrumental in developing features from conception to deployment, while also contributing to broader product and design decisions that shape the entire application.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of production Android development experience, with deep expertise in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Your technical skills should be complemented by a strong understanding of Android-specific capabilities and how they can be leveraged in a media application context. Experience with ExoPlayer and Media3 would be particularly valuable.

Suno offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $170K to $240K, plus equity, making this an attractive opportunity for senior talent. Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, Android

  • Design and build Suno's Android app for creating, exploring, and listening to music
  • Create foundational abstractions and libraries for performant, highly interactive media experiences
  • Own feature development from zero to one, and beyond
  • Contribute to design and product decisions across the app
  • Optimize the performance, joy, beauty, and feel of our products

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Android

Kotlin
  • 7+ years experience shipping production Android apps
  • Advanced expertise in Kotlin
  • Advanced expertise in Jetpack Compose
  • Experience building fluid animations, with an eye for translating prototypes into robust code
  • A keen sense of what's unique about Android, and how that can be used in relation to a media application
  • Prior experience with exoplayer and media3 is a huge plus
  • An obsession with great user experiences, getting the details right, iterating & learning rapidly, and working hard
  • A love of music (listening, exploring, making) is a huge plus
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
