Description For Actuator Test Engineer, Tesla Bot

Tesla is seeking a talented Actuator Test Engineer to join their innovative Tesla Bot team. This role combines mechanical, electrical, and robotics engineering expertise to develop and validate cutting-edge robotic actuators. As part of Tesla's AI & Robotics division, you'll work directly with the Actuator Design team to ensure the highest quality and performance of Tesla Bot's electromechanical systems.

The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced humanoid robotics at one of the world's most innovative companies. You'll be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive test plans, designing specialized test fixtures, and conducting thorough validation of both component and system-level actuator performance. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles and hands-on experience with electromechanical systems testing.

The ideal candidate will bring 2+ years of experience with LabView and data acquisition systems, along with significant expertise in testing mechanical and electrical systems. You'll need to demonstrate proficiency in dynamometer testing, servo control understanding, and the ability to analyze complex test data to drive design improvements.

Responsibilities For Actuator Test Engineer, Tesla Bot

  • Work closely with Design Engineers to create validation and qualification test plans
  • Develop, implement, execute test plans for electromechanical robotic actuators
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures and equipment for testing linear and rotary actuators
  • Perform component level testing, actuator level, and system/robot level testing
  • Work with Design Engineers to validate and refine actuator designs
  • Analyze test data and write test reports
  • Investigate root cause of failures and help drive actuator design improvements

Requirements For Actuator Test Engineer, Tesla Bot

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with LabView and data acquisition systems
  • 2+ years of experience in physical testing and analysis of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems
  • 1+ year of experience with testing electric motors or electromechanical actuators
  • 1+ year of experience with dynamometer testing and equipment
  • Working understanding of servo control
  • Component and system testing experience, including certification testing
  • Experience creating and executing design validation plans
  • Design of test setups for actuator testing and validation
