Description For Engineering Technician, Electronic Devices

Tesla is seeking a driven and motivated Engineering Technician to join their Electronic Devices Thermal Validation team. This role involves working closely with multiple Engineering teams, driving validation tasks, and working independently with minimal supervision. The work includes hands-on engagement with thermal, mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing thermal validation of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) at different ambient temperatures
  • Assembling and disassembling electronics modules with precision
  • Constructing and installing testing fixtures
  • Fabricating and installing various sensors for data collection
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to develop and implement test setups
  • Conducting tests autonomously and collecting data for analysis
  • Performing post-processing of test data
  • Conducting triage on assembled components
  • Documenting test procedures, setups, and results
  • Efficiently handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing assembly of electronics or validation of electronic assemblies
  • Proficiency in sensor installation and operation
  • Expertise in using hand tools, power tools, and hardware for assembly tasks
  • Strong skills in teardowns and repair of electronic components
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience with air flow bench, fan characterization, and thermal interface material testing (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Linux, Python programming, and automation techniques (preferred)
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and CAD software (preferred)
