Description For Software Integration Engineer, Crash Safety

Tesla's Crash Safety Software team is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to lead the development of safety and restraint systems across all Tesla vehicles. This role sits at the intersection of software development and vehicle safety, working with various teams to ensure Tesla maintains its position as a leader in vehicle safety. The position involves developing and integrating restraint controller functionality, implementing safety-critical software, and working with state-of-the-art development tools. You'll be part of a team that leverages insights from Tesla's global connected vehicle fleet and their advanced crash lab to improve real-world crash safety through innovative engineering solutions.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work on safety-critical systems that directly impact vehicle safety and user protection. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including low voltage, mechanical, and crash calibration teams, as well as external suppliers. Responsibilities For Software Integration Engineer, Crash Safety

  • Work with design and development engineers to ensure crash safety restraint system meets safety-critical operation requirements
  • Write vehicle level embedded firmware in C for core embedded functionality
  • Develop and execute software integration test plans
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software teams
  • Lead functional safety analysis of complex software systems
  • Develop safety concepts and lead HARA, DFMEAs
  • Interface with homologation team for crash safety system certifications

Requirements For Software Integration Engineer, Crash Safety

Python
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with systems involving multiple networked microprocessors, sensors and actuators
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with analyzing data to develop technical insights
  • Experience with safety critical systems (preferred)
  • Experience with CAN and Vector tools (preferred)
  • Experience with FMEA and HARA (preferred)
