Description For Test Engineer, Thermal Management Validation, Semi

Tesla is seeking a Test Engineer for Thermal Management Validation in their Semi division. This role is part of a diverse, enthusiastic team of multi-disciplined Engineers working on demonstrating the functionality, performance, and durability of new hardware designs for thermal systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and driving hardware validation efforts for thermal management components and subsystems
  • Managing tests from setup through execution and reporting
  • Writing and maintaining test software for automation
  • Designing and building custom test fixtures
  • Collaborating with design partners to drive changes based on test findings
  • Developing and maintaining validation schedules

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong background in Thermodynamics and refrigeration systems
  • Experience with lab equipment and test automation (Python preferred)
  • Knowledge of CAN communication protocols
  • CAD software experience (CATIA or SOLIDWORKS)
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities For Test Engineer, Thermal Management Validation, Semi

  • Own and drive hardware validation efforts for thermal management components and subsystems
  • Own and drive build and test of subsystem bucks
  • Write and maintain test software to automate test execution, data collection and data analysis
  • Design and build custom test fixtures
  • Manage tests from setup through execution and reporting
  • Ensure test findings are well-documented and quickly communicated
  • Develop and maintain validation schedules, coordinate test resources, and communicate status/blockers

Requirements For Test Engineer, Thermal Management Validation, Semi

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Background in Thermodynamics with understanding of refrigeration and coolant systems
  • Experience using standard lab and test equipment
  • Coding experience for test automation and data post-processing (Python preferred)
  • Experience with CAN communication protocols and test setup
  • Design experience with CAD software such as CATIA or SOLIDWORKS
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
