Description For Software Engineer–Embedded Linux Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

The Boeing Company is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join their Linux Embedded Platform Team in a fully remote position across the United States. This role is part of the Boeing Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T) business organization and represents a strategic opportunity to impact multiple product areas across the enterprise.

The position focuses on developing, deploying, and maintaining Linux Operating Systems for both Safety-Critical and non-Safety critical applications. As part of this role, you'll work in multi-disciplinary teams alongside Systems Engineers, Testers, business leaders, and customers to design, build and assure Linux distributions and implement new OS features.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Linux OS and platform development, with at least 2 years of professional experience in C/C++ programming. Additional valuable skills include experience with various programming languages (Python, Rust), development tools (git, gcc, clang, bazel), and embedded systems technologies (yocto, buildroot, bootloaders, hypervisors).

Responsibilities For Software Engineer–Embedded Linux Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

  • Develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Development of code and integration of software components into functional software system
  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments
  • Support development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plan, execute and document software research and development projects
  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance

Requirements For Software Engineer–Embedded Linux Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

Linux
  • 2+ Years professional development experience in C/C++ programming language
  • Professional experience developing in Linux development/operating system
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science (preferred)
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
