Description For Systems Engineer (Lead, Senior)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking Systems Engineers to join their Space and Launch Engineering team in El Segundo, California. This role focuses on designing and developing state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems for commercial, civil, and national security programs. The position involves working with domestic and international customers on cutting-edge satellite systems, spanning the entire unit life cycle from concept studies to satellite development and testing.

The role requires expertise in RF, digital, and optical satellite communication systems, with a strong emphasis on digital signal processing architectures and ASIC/FPGA design. You'll be responsible for developing and verifying requirements, conducting performance analysis, and working on prototype demonstrations for flight-like communication subsystem testbeds.

This is a senior-level position requiring 9-14+ years of experience, offering competitive compensation ranging from $128,350 to $212,750 depending on level and experience. The position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship, with work being fully onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities For Systems Engineer (Lead, Senior)

  • Design and develop next generation RF, digital, and optical satellite communication systems
  • Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point digital signal processing architectures
  • Allocate, define, and verify requirements and interfaces in communication digital payloads
  • Develop performance and link budgets
  • Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models
  • Conduct trade studies
  • Develop prototype demonstrations on flight-like communication subsystem testbeds
  • Support unit-level integration and performance simulations
  • Support ASIC and FPGA level system design and verification
  • Support hardware procurement, design reviews, and unit sell-offs

Requirements For Systems Engineer (Lead, Senior)

Python
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9+ years related work experience for Senior/Lead (Level 4)
  • 14+ years related work experience for Senior/Lead (Level 5)
  • Experience in signal processing
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
