Description For Engineer - R&D

Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department is seeking a passionate and highly-motivated Automated Electronics Design Engineer to join their team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role represents an exciting opportunity to work with one of the world's leading automotive manufacturers, focusing on developing and engineering highly integrated vehicle electronics parts including body electronics and ADAS-related systems.

The position offers a unique blend of hardware and software development, requiring expertise in automotive electronics, embedded systems, and vehicle networking technologies. As the Lead Engineer for the Camera converter box, you'll be responsible for critical integration and evaluation tasks while coordinating between TMNA R&D and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical capabilities in ECU hardware and software development, along with experience in system testing and validation. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge automotive technology development, including work with various ECUs, sensors, and vehicle networking protocols.

Responsibilities For Engineer - R&D

  • Lead engineer for Camera converter box responsible for integration, development, and evaluation
  • Coordinate activities between TMNA R+D and supplier
  • Plan structure of parts and systems through target setting, packaging and style feasibility
  • Develop electronics parts within concurrent minor and major changes
  • Create and maintain part development schedule through to SOP
  • Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities
  • Communicate between various Toyota Design Center's Engineering Staff

Requirements For Engineer - R&D

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or similar)
  • Experience with sensors, CPUs, or ECUs
  • Experience in unit/system testing and embedded software validation
  • Experience with vehicle networking technology (CAN, Lin, CXPI, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of ECU HW and SW development strategies
  • Familiarity with system development quality tools
  • Exposure to IS026262 Functional Safety concepts
  • Valid driving license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work hybrid (4 days per week in office)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and abroad
