Principal Software Engineer, Capital Supply

The Capital Supply Vertical is crucial to Upstart's AI-based lending operations, managing relationships with Lending Partners and Investors across five dynamic teams. As a Principal Engineer, you'll work directly with the head of Capital Market Engineering and collaborate across all Capital Supply product engineering teams. You'll be responsible for defining technical roadmaps, guiding architectural evolution, and driving alignment on complex technical requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining long-term technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives
• Leading architectural evolution of Capital Supply systems
• Driving alignment on technical requirements and designs
• Evaluating and implementing new technologies
• Mentoring technical leaders and identifying high-impact opportunities
• Partnering with product leaders to shape product direction

The ideal candidate brings:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong technical fundamentals in building large-scale systems
• Experience leading cross-team initiatives
• Track record of mentoring technical leaders
• Ability to influence without direct authority
