Upstart, a leading AI lending marketplace, is seeking a Software Engineer I (L3) to join their Consumer Platform team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the foundation that powers personalized experiences across Upstart's products, helping understand and support consumers as individuals.

The Consumer Platform team's mission is critical to Upstart's success in enabling access to effortless credit based on true risk. As a digital-first company, Upstart provides flexibility with remote work options across the US, as well as offices in San Mateo, Columbus, and Austin. The team operates with a focus on long-term thinking, strategic clarity, and data accuracy.

As a Software Engineer I, you'll work under guidance to deliver high-quality features within the platform. Your responsibilities will include building reliable backend services using Kotlin/Ruby, contributing to full-stack development with React/Next.js, and participating in debugging and production support. You'll have the opportunity to drive small enhancements and improve developer workflows while developing your skills in a supportive environment.

  • Build reliable feature-level services. Collaborate with senior engineers to design and develop resilient backend components (Kotlin/Ruby)
