Description For Resident Engineer

Wade Trim, a company dedicated to maximizing infrastructure investments, is seeking a Resident Engineer for their New York City office. This role is perfect for an experienced civil engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater projects.

As a Resident Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of managing complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will span from overseeing daily construction activities to collaborating with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and design engineers. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring project compliance, managing inspection staff, and maintaining site safety.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, at least 10 years of relevant experience, and a New York PE license. Experience with the New York Department of Environment and/or the Department of Design and Construction is highly valued. Your expertise in construction management software, such as Primavera P6 and Sage, will be put to good use in this role.

Responsibilities For Resident Engineer

  • Provide and manage day-to-day construction oversight/Resident Engineering efforts on complex water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities
  • Manage CM inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspection reports
  • Review construction work progress daily
  • Manage office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables
  • Manage the Contractor payment process
  • Responsible for overall site safety, permit condition compliance and coordination with other stakeholders
  • Monitor Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness
  • Generate project correspondence
  • Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' RFI's and review of shop drawings
  • Collaborate amongst client, contractor(s), design engineers, and third-party stakeholders
  • Mentor, supervise and provide direction for less experienced staff
  • Review design and bidding documents for completeness, constructability and biddability
  • Perform construction administration, schedule analyses, change order development, negotiation, and processing
  • Support the growth of Construction Management services in the New York City metropolitan region
  • Lead development of construction management pursuits and proposals
  • Maintain a safe work environment

Requirements For Resident Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in water/wastewater heavy civil projects
  • Professional Engineering license in the state of New York
  • Experience with New York Department of Environment and/or Department of Design and Construction (DDC) preferred
  • Working experience with Primavera P6 scheduling and Sage cost estimating software
  • Working knowledge of Construction PMIS platform (e-Builder or equivalent)
  • Working experience on NYCDEP projects related to pump stations, treatment plants, and other in-plant works
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent communication skills
