Job Description

Wanderlog helps make leisure travel easier by building tools that lower the bar to travel experiences. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you'll join a team of 8 (including 7 engineers) working on their top-ranked trip planning app and related travel services.

The role involves building new features for both web and mobile platforms using Javascript (Typescript), React, React Native, and Node.js/Express. You'll own portions of the product end-to-end - from designing features based on traveler needs to implementing them while considering technical debt and scalability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing user-friendly interfaces for hotel booking and travel planning
  • Creating AI-powered tools to analyze and summarize travel content
  • Optimizing the React Native mobile app performance
  • Building data pipelines to process travel information
  • Writing tested, typed code and reviewing others' contributions
  • Contributing to engineering infrastructure improvements

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of full-stack development experience, is comfortable with React/React Native, and has a product-minded approach. You should be adaptable with new technologies (they use Redis, Elasticsearch, Python as needed) and excited about joining a small, high-growth team.

The company culture emphasizes work-life balance, with regular team lunches and twice-annual travel offsites. Founded by twin brothers with experience at Stripe, McKinsey, and Google, Wanderlog has grown to serve millions of travelers monthly while remaining self-sustaining.

The hiring process includes an async programming challenge, followed by coding interviews and a full-day virtual onsite. They're specifically looking for candidates in Americas timezones to ensure team overlap.

If you love travel and want to make it more accessible while working with a talented, engineering-driven team, this could be an excellent opportunity to make an impact in the travel technology space.
