Description For Senior Fullstack Engineer, Fleet Response

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases.

The Fleet Response team's mission is to accelerate the safe deployment of Waymo's autonomous technology. Fleet Response operates at the latest of our autonomous driving operations. In certain ambiguous or complex situations, the Waymo Driver can request the assistance of human Fleet Response Operators (FROs) to provide extra context and information. Our team works at the leading edge of Waymo's technology, figuring out how to combine on-vehicle and off-vehicle resources to get our vehicles on the road faster.

In this hybrid role, you will report to the Manager of Fleet Response Engineering and collaborate with other teams to help our self-driving vehicles in ambiguous or complex situations. You'll prototype and deploy safe, reliable solutions to real-world challenges in autonomous driving, work with onboard engineering teams to anticipate and plan for issues at the edge of our self-driving capabilities, and work on mission-critical systems and infrastructure to support Waymo's fleet.

You'll have the opportunity to work on the full length and range of the problem, including web apps, distributed systems, and data analysis. The ideal candidate should have a BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, 5+ years of experience with Web applications where reliability, scale, or performance is critical, and experience debugging and maintaining interactive web applications in production. Experience with TypeScript, Angular, RxJS, or similar technologies is required, and experience with distributed systems is preferred.

Join Waymo and be part of shaping the future of autonomous driving technology while working in a dynamic, innovative environment.
