I've heard differing opinions on this. Some recruiters say it's not a great look to apply to multiple positions at the same company while others say it's fine.
For example, if you are a Full Stack developer -> Is it fine to apply to multiple Full Stack/Frontend/Backend/Infra positions at the same company? I'm not sure if applying to just one position at your target company is enough because the argument is "what if they miss it" if that makes sense.
Wanted to get Taro's opinion on this. Thanks!
They usually have different recruiters so it’s fine to apply to all
BUT don’t use the same resume for all positions. They’re clearly different positions so you should update your resume to tailor it toward each role. When talking to new grads who don’t have much nor varied experience, that’s why recruiters say to only apply to one because it forces you to think about which one your resume is the best fit for
Applying to multiple positions at the same company is very common. At Meta, they encourage employees to attach 3 relevant roles for every referral.
Where things get weird though is when you apply to several roles across many different tech stacks/domains. It makes you seem desperate and lacking depth in any particular area (which is really painful as most companies want specialists nowadays).
For your situation, you should stick to just 1 stack (e.g. front-end web, mobile, ML, back-end) and apply to roles within that stack. As a junior engineer, your goal is just to convince employers that you're good at 1 thing.
