How to handle LinkedIn job search when you have a job?
Hi all. I am working at a contract role right now with a small startup that ends in less than 6 months. There is a chance to convert to full time, but they could also just end the contract.
I am confused about how to handle LinkedIn during this time.
Should I keep the open to work badge?
Currently I get a lot of reachouts on LinkedIn for interviews. I am not sure if that will change when I take the badge off.

2 months agoTech Lead @ Robinhood, Meta, Course HeroIn this economy, it's much better to be safe than sorry. I actually think you should interview on the side, at least passively (I don't know how tough your contracting job currently is).
However, I also think you should remove #OpenToWork for 2 reasons:
- I don't think that open signal helps. You can signal privately on LinkedIn that you're open to new opportunities. The green ring also feels tacky to me.
- It might be a negative signal to your current employer that you aren't impressed with them too much (which is why you're publicly open to jumping ship), and they will take this as a sign to not convert you to FTE.

I agree with Alex: remove the open-to-work badge, but keep some warm leads for interviews, and have backup options as you near the end of the contract.
